I thought I'd give my readers a little treat this week due to the fact that i had some difficulties involving getting out to the theater to get notes for some flick reviews.
Anyhow here's the latest episode of Naruto Shippuden. out a week earlier than it's typical bi weekly Hulu release: http://forums.saiyanisland.com/showthread.php?t=2537
So I stumbled on an article that mentioned that rapper Travis “Travie” McCoy of the group gym class heroes released the latest track from his solo album “Lazarus”
The song is said to be an ode to his ex girl friend Katy Perry. With the dreary sob stories aside the song is actually pretty bad ass. In this track Travie shows off his long latent singing prowess. Now usually when you here about a rapper singing, you often expect an auto tune laden track with little substance; fortunately Travie rocks this one with his natural voice and, surprisingly, the man delivers
The song:
New Naruto this week. This time we have Naruto getting his first taste of grappling with the Kyuubi over control of its chakra.
Now in the explanation the frogs gave, it was said that in order to to separate the Kyuubi’s mind from it's chakra, Naruto will have to create a filter. Theories are a bound but I’ve always felt that sage mode would end up being the key to controlling the Kyuubi.
Sadly only time will tell if my theory is correct. In the mean time though, check out this week’s chapter: http://www.onemanga.com/Naruto/496/01/
last but not least here's the manga in video form:
Okay so I'm channel surfing through the MTV channels and I happened to stumble upon an announcement that the lead singer of the band Paramore, Hayley Williams, and rapper B.o.B collaborated on a track titled airplanes. Now because i have dabbled in both Paramore and B.o.B's music, I immediately rushed to You Tube to hear what the track sounded like in it's entirety........
What's funny is that the version I found also featured Eminem. sadly, Eminem really out shines B.o.B in this song. During B.o.B's verses it feels like your waiting for him to really go hard but it's as if he's trying but just can't get there. Eminem on the other hand attacks this song with his usual go hard or go home flow. His verse rhymed well, had the right amount of consistency, and went well with the beat enough to satisfy picky listeners such as my self.
Last but not least, Hayley Williams on the hook really brings this song together. fortunately Williams brings her A game and sings the hook with the same melodic punk rock voice we've grown to love from Paramore.
take a listen for yourself and I'm sure you'll love it
New Naruto chapter this week: http://manga.saiyanisland.com/2/Naruto/495
This week’s chapter can be summed up pretty quickly. In short: Naruto conquers his dark side after being inspired by Bee and Motoi’s friendship. There’s really only one reason to look at this chapter and that’s to find out what is in store for next week. I won’t spoil it but it’s pretty awesome
Now as many of you readers may know, blogging about films requires me to often sit through both films & their previews while at the theater. Though I do consider myself a fairly strong skeptic, from time to time I do find myself being drawn in by a films trailer. Such is the case with the film “Scott Pilgrim Vs The World.”
The film stars comedic actor Michael Cera and is based on the comic series of the same name written by Bryan Lee O'Malley. The series centers around a band’s base guitarists named Scott Pilgrim who meets his perfect women in Ramona Flowers (played by Mary Elizabeth Winstead). The romance seems a match made in hipster heaven until Flowers reveals that her love life is dictated by her seven evil super powered exes and that Scott must defeat them in order for the two to truly be together.
This film’s premise and trailer immediately drew me in because it instantly put me in mind of one of my favorite video games, “No More Heroes.” The idea of having a male lead fight off a league of powerful eccentrics in order to accomplish a goal no one else would go though as much trouble to obtain is a theme that when done properly can prove to be both funny and action packed.
The film's visuals also share much in common with No More Heroes in it that they both share a heavy influence from Japanese anime. Subtle touches in the film such as Flowers’ hair style, The fight choreography, and the on screen written sound effects make this film seem both highly stylized and entertaining right off the bat.
All in all I’m looking forward to checking this one out. After my most recent rant about my distaste for American comic series, it’ll be interesting to see an American take on some Japanese themes.

Now before I do this review of Iron Man 2, I have to be honest with all of you readers. I am by no means a fan of American comics or comic series. My reason for this is the constant re-hashes & remakes that comic series get when the writers run out of ideas after 12-20 issues. That being said, I’d like to point out that despite my general distaste for the fickle writing of American comics, there are occasions where I can appreciate the originality of a concept, despite its country of origin. Such is the case with Iron Man. The idea of the cocky, rich, super genius has yet to be mimicked in any form as cool as Tony Stark.
The original live action Iron Man film had a truly compelling story. The characters, though not that developed, had chemistry and clicked well when on screen together. Though the character of Tony Stark is certainly by all means a complete prick, it was hard not to want to egg him on during his trials and tribulations throughout the film. The only real problem with the original Iron Man film was its lack luster ending. Having the main villain fall due to a design flaw is anything but a climactic and satisfying ending.
This sequel picks up a year after the events of the first movie. Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) has let the world know that he in fact is Iron Man. With the help of the advanced Iron Man suit, Stark has, for the most part, created an extended period of world peace. Stark’s exploits eventually reach the ear of Russian inventor and ex prisoner Ivan Vanko (Mickey Rourke). It’s quickly revealed that Vanko’s father co-created the ARC light technology (the power source behind the Iron Man Suit and the device that keeps Stark’s heart going) with Stark’s father. Because Stark’s father received the majority of the credit for creating this pioneering technology, Vanko is compelled to avenge his disgraced father by dismantling the Stark legacy. He does this by creating a sort of Iron Man exoskeleton equipped with laser whips and powered by a makeshift ARC light which he learned to create using his father’s old blue prints. While Vanko is preparing his revenge, Stark deals with pressure from the Government to turn over the iron man technology. Stark also (ironically) battles with a design flaw in the ARC light which is causing His blood toxicity Level to climb the more he uses the suit. As the plot unfolds, multiple events occur and many more challenges arise in front of Stark including his growing depression from his seemingly unavoidable death and Nick Fury of S.H.E.I.L.D. breathing down his neck.
Now despite my slightly vague synopsis there is actually much more to this film. There seems to be a barrage of guest appearances from characters like War Machine, to Justin Hammer, and even Black Widow. This unfortunately works against the film because it takes away time the writers could have used to fine tune the characters as well as the story. Sadly only a few thin plot elements hold this film together and even though there is some impressive actor performances From Robert Downey Jr. & company, the plot issues are hard to ignore for folks who like a considerable amount of substance in their action films.
My second and final complaint with the film is the choice of Don Cheadle as James “Rhody” Rhodes. Though Cheadle’s performance was nothing to shake a stick at, it was hard to Buy him as Rhody who often appeared in the comics as more brolic and rugged.
All in all, most of the other elements of the film such as the CGI and fight scenes make this a fun and entertaining film. Though not as in depth as the film that came before it, they at least give us the one thing that the last Iron Man film didn’t: an ending that’s both action packed & satisfying.
Go see this one full price & you most certainly won’t feel ripped off

New Naruto this week folks. This time around we delve deeper into killer bee's past as we peek at life as a tailed beast's host from the point of view of one of bee's child hood friends/rivals, Motoi.
Again, I will post up a HD quality YouTube video of the manga as well as a link to the Onemanga.com version of this week's issue as soon as I am able
In the mean time here's this week's Naruto chapter brought to you by SaiyanIsland.com: http://manga.saiyanisland.com/2/Naruto/494
Now the last chapter had me pissed simply cause of the whole hollow....excuse me i mean evil Naruto gimmick Kishi seems to be trying to shove down our throats. Having Naruto meditate near a waterfall when suddenly an evil version of himself appears in his subconscious poised to fight feels dumb and over used to me. Now this week's chapter wasn't much better but it seems like they're getting ready to show us a bit of killer bee's history which should be fairly interesting
Read for your self peeps: http://www.onemanga.com/Naruto/493/01/
