Okay so I'm skimming through face book just before i pack up my lap top then all of a sudden i notice one of my buddies has a link to the music video "I'm Beamin" by Lupe Fiasco.

Now those close to me know I'm a huge Lupe fan and as such, I've been dying for his album, lasers, to come out

Now this song may not be my favorite track leaked from Lupe's latest LP but as with most of his other music Lupe scores big regardless of any complaints i have about the song

Check it out for your selves:

Now last week would have been the week i provided you guys with my review of Death at a Funeral. Sadly, i had my anime loving heart stolen by a certain luscious lipped Ghanaian lovely who pretty much distracted me during the last third of the movie. i will say though that the parts i did pay attention were not that impressive and most of the funny parts in the film were shown in the trailer. So basically, the movie sucked ass.....

Fortunately, this week i flew solo to see a pretty decent movie by the name of "Kick-Ass." This movie was directed by Matthew Vaughn and stars Aaron Johnson, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Chloƫ Grace Moretz, Nicolas Cage, and Mark Strong. The film, based on a comic series of the same name, tells the tale of a teen aged boy named Dave Lizewski. Dave is a down on his luck geek who admittedly has no prospects other than his knowledge of comics. One day while sitting in a comic book store/lounge with a group of friends Dave asks "i wonder why no ones ever tried to be a super hero?" though his friends mock his question, Dave is convinced that with the right attitude and devotion it is quite possible to become a super hero. With these thoughts in mind, Dave orders a costume, two fighting sticks, dawns the identity of Kick-Ass, and sets out to be a super hero in spite of his lack of both superpowers and physical prowess. on his journey, Dave meets a cast of other super heroes and gets rapped up in a fairly complex situation that's much bigger than himself.

The story unfolds pretty gracefully and the plot twits and ideas from the comic are executed quite well on screen. To be honest i only have 3 real complaints about this film. For one, it seems like none of the robbers that Kick-Ass encounters ever heard of this wonderful new invention we have called guns. Kick-Ass seems to be fortunate in it that in every minor villain he encounters only wields a knife. My second problem is with the ending. The device used to solve the issue of the finale feels like a bit of a cop out. I'm not sure if this is how it was in the comic(as i've only read a quick synopsis of the comic) but to me it feels stupid and tacked on. Lastly, though Kick-Ass to me was an interesting character he quickly gets over shadowed by some of his more impressive super hero peers. One of which is an 11 year-old killing machine by the name of Hit Girl

Despite my complaints the movie was still really good. I'd recommend you guys go see this at a matinee. So let it marinate in the theater a bit.

Ut saddens me to say this but speaking frankly as a college student school is kicking my @$$. Because of this I'll be taking a brief hiatus in order to make time for school work, expenses, and the new Mrs Akira Slug(my lady)

In the mean time i have to express my sadness at the loss of one of my favorite 90's rappers, Guru, the front man of "Gangstarr." He died a few days ago and details surrounding his death are sordid and sketchy.

Despite all the scandal Guru's music played a big part of my child. I can still remember the countless hours playing tony hawk while the song Mass appeal was blasting.

Guru and Gangstarr's music took you places with their smooth laden jazz and soul beats and they truly mastered what most consider that 90's sound.

As far as this reporter is concerned, he will be missed

RIB(rest in beats) Guru......

These chapters are starting to feel a bit rushed. It's as if the author, Masashi Kishimoto, is trying to transition quickly into something else. only time will tell what he has in store for us but in the mean time we're stuck having to deal with evil Naruto(read the chapter and you'll learn what that means)

This week’s chapter was kind of short but for those who were fans of Naruto’s child like aloofness you’re most certainly in for a treat: http://www.onemanga.com/Naruto/491/01/

I’m not sure how many of you guys may actually remember but about a month back I completely wrote off Bleach because of the complete hunk of sh%^ chapters we’d been receiving lately. I’d personally felt that the story had been going down hill and so far I haven’t been proven wrong

Exhibit A: http://www.onemanga.com/Bleach/399/01/

Exhibit B: http://www.onemanga.com/Bleach/395/01/

Now, in order to shake off my massive disappointment in the Bleach series, I’ve started reading a manga from a series I’d dabbled in in the past. The name of this series is Soul Eater.

This series is essentially Bleach light. The story centers around a school that trains weapon toting assassins to collect the souls of evil humans and witches in order to transform their weapons into “death scythes.” These weapons have the ability to take human form and often have both distinct and entertaining personalities.

The story is far deeper than my explanation but it’s definitely something worth checking out if you want Bleach class action and Naruto class story.

The only down side about this manga is that it's released on a monthly basis rather than a weekly basis like we’ve grown used to from Naruto and Bleach. Fret not though because the longer that manga takes to release the more the story can be refined and sharpened, so choke on that Ichigo!!!!!!

Toke up cause this one's laced with awesome:http://www.onemanga.com/Naruto/490/01/
enjoy ya'll

and the video version for you lazy few:

After being totally disappointed with “Repo Men” last weekend I was in dire need of a good laugh to shake off the trauma. Thankfully I got just what I needed from a little film called “Hot Tub Time Machine.” The film staring John Cusack, Lyndsy Fonseca, Crystal Lowe, Rob Corddry, Clark Duke, and Craig Robinson kept me laughing despite my pain in the @$$ allergies.
The premise here is that three down and out 40-somethings accompanied by a twenty 24 year old nerd visit their ski lodge hang out to relive their glory day. Upon arriving they realize that the town where the ski lodge is located has for the most part become run down and boring. In order to ease their disappointment about this discovery the group engages in a night of sex and debauchery centering within the hot tub in their hotel room. In the confusion the group is sent back in time to 1986 where they relive (sometimes even deviate) their past while the double entendre loving time machine repair man (Chevy Chase) fixes the hot tub.

Watching the misadventures of this motley Lou….excuse me I meant crew…was truly entertaining. The over all premise/devices of the film are pretty stupid. Fortunately the film makes up for it with rapid fire funniness. Everything from the gross out jokes, to the dry humor, and even the go-no-where random jokes had me laughing. In short go see this one while it’s still hot. Full price……
