I know I'm a little late posting this one up but after seeing it about a minute ago on MTV I had to give it the Tri-Emm treatment; especially after my original post about this song about a month back:

Sadly this isn't the version of the song that featured Eminem but the video is still pretty impressive. The theme of this song is basically going back to an artists up-in-coming days prior to the so called lavish life of fame and fortune.

It's likely because of this theme why the video director chose to depict Singer Hayley Williams singing within still photographs during the chorus. Ultimately, this choice was a good one because, as mentioned before, it reiterates the central theme of the song making it more palpable to those who may not have been able to grasp it before.

Unfortunately, this week the Naruto manga series is taking break from it's normal weekly release deciding instead to unveil the 500th chapter of Naruto next week.

Fortunately, for you fans out there, we aren't left completely deprived in a week absent our favorite blond haired Track suite wearing ninja.

The release of Naruto Shippuden episodes will continue on schedule and because i do value those of you whom actually read my posts, I'm bringing you the following episode a week earlier than it's normal American release.

Enjoy: http://www.thenarutoshippuuden.com/naruto-shippuuden-episode-166/

I've watched it myself not long ago and it's really impressive. Compared to the manga chapter that it's based on there's a lot more emotional impact leading up to the episode's climax. The art and animation also get a significant boost compared to other episodes as characters move and fight with far more fluidity. Definitively check this one out because to be honest it may be the best episode I've seen since Sasuke duked it out with Killer Bee.

Last week we explored how Minato Namikaze(the Fourth Hokage) and Kushina Uzumaki( Naruto's mother) met and eventually fell in love with each other.

This week we get to see Naruto's reaction to the revelations brought forth to him by his mother and after reading this chapter, the only word that comes to mind is "wow!"

The feeling of watching Naruto go at it with the fox one last time for me can only be likened to watching Goku ascend to his Super Saiyan form for the first time.

Enough of me talking though. witness for yourselves the awesomeness:

Watch it

A while back i saw an update on my face book home that had a link that led to a page on that good 'ol social networking dinosaur, myspace. Now on this page was a number of tracks from Travie McCoy's latest album "Lazarus."

I initially loved a lot of the songs on there but there was one song that stood out in particular. This song was titled "The Manuel." the song had interesting lyrics, most notably the chorus which went "I'm just trying to be who you say you are, but who are you? I'm just trying to be who you say are the stars and who is cool, but who am I??" These lyrics tugged at my only recently subsiding teen angst to the point that i found myself humming the tune at inappropriate times (church, libraries, the line at the food court,...etc)

More to the point though, a video for the song "The Manuel" has been recently released and though it certainly isn't the finest peace of cinematography I've seen by any means, it's cool to see the album is getting attention to the point that videos are being so rapidly released.....

Anyhow, enjoy the video and don't be shy in telling me what you guys think

This week we have Naruto having a nice sit down conversation with his mommy dearest. All jokes aside though we do actually et some interesting insight as to what the history of Kushina Uzumaki was and how her relationship with the fourth hokage was formed.

Over the last decade we’ve seen little innovation in the horror genre. With the lackluster remakes and uninspired Sequels, it feels as though the horror genre is receiving the least cinematic polish. Because of these repeated disappointments, critics and movie goers often praise films that bring something even vaguely unique to the table. Such is apparently the case with Copperheart Entertainment’s newest Film “Splice” as it’s already getting praised by hoards of critics. Sadly ……I must differ from my critical peers.

Plot:

This film, starring Adrien Brody, Sarah Polley, and Delphine Chaneac, revolves around bio geneticists Clive Nicoli (Brody) and Elsa Kast (Polley). These two scientists have apparently perfected the art of creating unique organism by splicing together the genes of existing organism. By splicing together these genes, the subsequent organisms produce proteins which show the potential to revolutionize the medical field. Shortly after discovering this potentially revolutionary break through, Kast and Nicoli ponder the potential possibilities of throwing human DNA into the mix.

Unfortunately for this scientist pair, their dreams of a real life Franken stein are shot down by their pharmaceutical sponsors because of the experiments questionable morality. The disappointing reaction from the pharmaceutical company leaves the scientist frustrated yet even more determined to create their human animal hybrid.

Not long after their idea’s rejection, the two begin constructing their hybrid creature in secret. The experiment ends result produces Dren (Delphine Chaneac), a hairless hinged legged humanoid creature with a poisonous tail.

Thoughts:

The film does have an admittedly interesting premise. The problem is that the film really doesn’t necessarily have any sort of message. Much like the pharmaceutical company, “Splice” seems to want to question the morality of genetic experimentation but it ends up using the character Dren as something of a canvass for the other character’s psychological issues and hang-ups. This would normally be a good thing but because Polley’s character Elsa comes to insane conclusions during the experiments run it’s hard to determine whether or not the experiment itself was immoral or just conducted by a pair of truly disturbed individuals.

Another issue I found with the film is that it’s very much a niche film. There are certain scenes that are definitely cringe worthy and hard to stomach for casual movie goers. I won’t spoil anything but lets just say that Brody’s Character takes a certain “liking” toward Dren. A liking that we are shown in vivid detail

Slug Rating:

Over all it’s hard to recommend this film to everyday audiences due to it’s confusing message and some disturbing scenes. My rating for this movie: 2.5/5

Trailer:

As you grow old, a lot of truths become more and more apparent to you. Time passes and many of the role models and public figures who you may have grown up idealizing end falling from grace. Such is the plight of Aaron Green (Jonah Hill) in the film “Get Him to the Greek.”

The film's plot revolves around Rock star Aldous Snow (Russell Brand) who releases a song and a subsequent video about the issues in Africa called "African Child." The song and music video are both ribbed and ravaged by critics and are referred to as "the worst thing to happen to Africa since apartheid." The, single for the most part, destroys Snow's career, and, as a result, he returns to his previous overly decadent life style of sex and debauchery.

Aaron Green is a long time fan of Snow’s who works as an intern at Pinnacle Records. He lives in a house in Los Angeles California with his girlfriend Daphne (Elisabeth Moss), a doctor in her internship. Though these two do seem to have some semblance of an at least amicable relationship, they have issues with spending time together due to the fact that they both have heavy work schedules.

Pinnacle Records has lost a lot of money due to the music industries current fledgling state. This causes so the head of the company, Sergio Roma (Sean "Diddy" Combs), to asks for ideas on how the company might possibly get back on its feet. Green suggests having Snow play at the Greek Theater in Los Angeles for the tenth anniversary of snow’s critically acclaimed live album

Roma initially shuns Green’s suggestion but soon sees its potential profitability. He then sends green to England to Pick up Snow and bring him to the Greek theater in 72 hours

Plot Summary adapted from the Wikipedia Article Get Him to the Greek: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Get_Him_to_the_Greek

The movie is apparently structured as something of a road film. albeit a bit formulaic, much of the humor revolves around raunchy gross out party/club scenarios which Green and Snow encounter in their quest to make it to Los Angeles. Though the plot not only wears thin but falls apart after sometime the film stays consistently funny through the first and second acts of the film.

Though this film may not have the most witty and thought provoking humor I’ve ever seen I’ll be damned if I didn’t laugh out loud quite a few times while watching this.

Though Get Him to the Greek may not receive the critical praise of movies like The Hangover, this film still serves its ultimate purpose which is to make the audience laugh.

Go see this in the theater preferably with a group of friends
