After being totally disappointed with “Repo Men” last weekend I was in dire need of a good laugh to shake off the trauma. Thankfully I got just what I needed from a little film called “Hot Tub Time Machine.” The film staring John Cusack, Lyndsy Fonseca, Crystal Lowe, Rob Corddry, Clark Duke, and Craig Robinson kept me laughing despite my pain in the @$$ allergies.
The premise here is that three down and out 40-somethings accompanied by a twenty 24 year old nerd visit their ski lodge hang out to relive their glory day. Upon arriving they realize that the town where the ski lodge is located has for the most part become run down and boring. In order to ease their disappointment about this discovery the group engages in a night of sex and debauchery centering within the hot tub in their hotel room. In the confusion the group is sent back in time to 1986 where they relive (sometimes even deviate) their past while the double entendre loving time machine repair man (Chevy Chase) fixes the hot tub.
Watching the misadventures of this motley Lou….excuse me I meant crew…was truly entertaining. The over all premise/devices of the film are pretty stupid. Fortunately the film makes up for it with rapid fire funniness. Everything from the gross out jokes, to the dry humor, and even the go-no-where random jokes had me laughing. In short go see this one while it’s still hot. Full price……
